Outreach Program: Cooking Classes

The Center for European Studies now offers cooking classes! Following the success of the award-winning cookbook, A Taste of Europe, and with the series of ten lessons in 2010-2011 (Greek, Slovak, Italian, Turkish, Central European, Hungarian, and Polish), the CES offered Italian, German, Greek, Dutch, French, and Catalan lessons in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. The CES partnered with Darleen Randall, head chef at Take Away Gourmet. Darleen has a well-stocked commercial kitchen where she caters, prepares meals to go, and conducts cooking classes.

The price included all ingredients, a prepared appetizer, and eating the delicious results, in addition to a copy of A Taste of Europe. A maximum of ten students in each class assured individual attention.

Students learned authentic recipes and got tips and techniques that couldn't be learned from a book.

While no classes are scheduled for 2012-2013, we plan to offer them soon. Learn of new classes by reading your CES Weekly Updates. To stay in touch for details, call CES at (352) 294-7142.
