Until Viva Europe!
Here's what we did in 2013...
Get your hands on Europe at our free, family-friendly festival and have fun learning about Europe. Eat, drink, dance, sing, make crafts, listen to authentic European music, watch English, Greek, and Turkish dancers, buy stuff from Hungary, Romania, or Turkey, write your name in a different language, play bocce, and get a map. Learn to say "Go Gators" in 10 different languages, compete in a dominoes tournament, get a henna tattoo, and have your fortune told with melted wax or coffee grounds.
All that and more at Viva Europe 2013! - a day-long celebration of the cultures of Europe - brought home to you in downtown Gainesville by the University of Florida Center for European Studies with other organizers and sponsors. The festival is on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 11:00am-4:00pm at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza.
Use all your senses to see, hear, taste, and touch Europe at Viva Europe! A full day of music and dance performance is accompanied by food vendors, country display tables that may have goodies to taste and interesting objects to touch, contests, kid's activities, a marketplace, mini-language lessons, and more.
Bring your chair and your appetite for European cultures and have a blast. Admission is free.
Groups from Germany, Greece, Turkey, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greenland, Croatia, Ireland, Portugal, Italy, Spain, France and more will be represented.
There will be a Go Gators! Language contest. Handcrafted and food items from Turkey, Poland, Hungary, Romania, and the Czech Republic will be for sale in the marketplace.
